BLAME CANADA

Canada has always been a place ive been stinging to get too and it most certainly delivered. Calgary where i was based is a chilled mellow city, that has boomed from oil. The city has a cool laid back cowboy esque country feel to it and is surrounded by the renowned rocky mountains of Canada, the tourist attraction resort of Banff and the mesmerising Lake Louise.
The scenery around these parts is absolutely breathtaking, the kind of picturesque canadian environments that everyone imagines and let me tell you people, it most certainly lives up to the hype.
Banff itself is an amazing little town in the midsts of these mountains, packed full of expensive condos, retail shops, tourist traps and restaurants with a cool, chilled snow town vibe to it.
Ice Hockey is absolutely huge here, and seems to be a distinctive aspect of canadian life. The players seem to be delt some kind of ridiculous superstar status on a grand scale that is basically unseen in the australian sport scene. Even though its the middle of summer here i still got the chance to witness a local level game, packed full of ex NHL players shredding it up.

Throughout my stay i was lucky enough to tour the unique wilderness and city under
the wing of a few locals which was of huge advantage as my lack of knowledge about this area was extremely obvious and simply embarrassing upon arrival. However after a few hours of lectures in alex's car i was dropping canadian slang, "chirping" off my nut and smashing Tim Horton's double double coffees like no tomorrow. Throughout my time here i stayed in a mega palace in the north west of calgary with an old friend Alex Rabbitte and the owner of the pad Dusty, who just happened to be easily one of the nicest and most generous people I've ever met, on top of spending a night in a college town Leth bridge that many locals refer to as Leth Vegas for a cheeky blinder. all in all a week to remember.

Bronzer, The situation, theme parks, infamous yellow cabs and the city that never sleeps wait ahead of me tomorrow. xoxo
